FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After 42 Years, Mr. Cleans About to Utter His First Words
"Please, help me wash the blood of innocent animals off my hands. P&G, Stop Animal Testing!"
Mill Valley, CA Procter & Gamble (P&G) has recently announced a contest for the public to decide what Mr. Cleans first words will be after 42 years of silence. In Defense of Animals (IDA), a California based animal advocacy organization, has a strong opinion about what those first words should be.
"With Procter & Gambles atrocious record of torturing animals under the guise of product safety, clearly Mr. Clean should voice his disapproval," says In Defense of Animals President, Elliot Katz, DVM. "That is why we are recommending that people write in via the companys website to suggest that Mr. Cleans first words be, Please, help me wash the blood of innocent animals off my hands. P&G, Stop Animal Testing! Mr. Clean has silently watched in horror for far too long while Procter & Gamble has tortured and killed thousands of animals. Let his voice be heard!"
P&Gs tests on animals includes the use of thousands of rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, mice, and rats each year in tests on cosmetic and household products. Despite the fact that these tests are not required by any law, and despite the fact that more reliable and humane alternatives do exist, P&G refuses to stop testing its products on animals. Presently, over 500 companies have chosen to be cruelty-free by not testing any of their products on animals.
IDA first began an international boycott against Procter & Gamble for its unnecessary use of animals in consumer and household products testing in 1989. In 1997, IDA helped to launch the Global Day of Action Against Procter & Gamble. In 1999, over 65 events took place in over 22 U.S. Cities and 10 countries. Even more are expected at this years Global Day of Action, which will take place on Saturday, March 25.

IDA is a national, California-based animal advocacy organization dedicated to ending the abuse and exploitation of animals by defending their rights, welfare and habitats.
